IWF Media Scholarship Program 2005

In order to increase the popularity of weightlifting
worldwide, the International Weightlifting Federation announces the
IWF Media Scholarship Program 2005.

Who can be a candidate to the Scholarship?

Any journalist under the age of 35 years working in
the writing press (daily or weekly papers, news agencies, Internet)
with a great interest in weightlifting and wishing to attend and
cover the 2005 Centennial Weightlifting World Championships in Doha,
Qatar as a journalist. Candidates are welcome from any country of
the world.

What the candidate has to do to apply for the
Scholarship?

• Send a detailed Curriculum Vitae to the
International Weightlifting Federation. In the CV indicate (in
addition to personal details):
Number of years as a journalist

List or reference list of publications, articles published in
the field of weightlifting
Major weightlifting events covered
(Olympic Games, World or Continental Championships, Continental or
other Games)
• Attach a photo
• The deadline for the
applications is 31 August 2005.

Further criteria
Candidates born after 1 January
1970 may send applications.
Applicants must have a suitable
command of the English language.

Allocation of the Scholarship
A Panel consisting
of Dr. Tamás Aján IWF President, Anikó Németh-Móra, IWF Director,
and Gábor Lantos, IWF Spokesman will decide about the allocation of
the Scholarship.

IWF Media Scholarships will be allocated to 3
(Three) journalists. The 3 winners may take part in the IWF
Centennial World Championship in Doha, Qatar 2005.

During the 2005 World Championships (competition
days + 3 days) the winners will receive free accomodation and full
board (in the World Championship’s official media hotel) paid by the
IWF. Assistance to Entry visa to Qatar will be provided.

The travel costs to and from Doha must be paid by
the Scholarship holders!

Winners will be officially accredited to the World
Championships.

During the 2005 World Championships, the winners
will be assigned to different tasks. They will have to take part in
the medal-winners’ press conferences, after each competition. They
will have to make interviews with the people chosen by IWF. These
interviews will be published on the website during the World
Championship. They will have to write a summary for the World Weightlifting magazine published after
the World Championship.
