Record turnout expected at University Worlds

Thirty countries are sending their athletes to the 9th World University Championships in Izmir, Turkey, starting tomorrow. Among the 46 female and 92 male competitors Olympic and world championships are to compete. Competitions will run Friday to Sunday in the new Halkapinar Sports Hall.

Strong performances are expected from the host Turkish, the Thai and the Chinese teams, but there may be surprise results or records by other student-athletes as well.
