Oceania talent sets new record

OWF and Commonwealth Federation General Secretary Paul Coffa reports: Samoa weightlifting sensation, Ele Opeloge set a new Commonwealth record in the clean & jerk with a lift of 141kg on Friday 13th April, during the Apia Cup International Tournament. She also set a new Oceania snatch record with 107kg and a new Oceania total record of 248kg. All of these records were broken in the +75kg category.

Ele who is an IOC Solidarity scholarship holder based at the Oceania Weightlifting Institute, has only been lifting for 15 months. She has a great chance to place in the top eight at this year?s World Championships.
