Dika Toua breaks Record
The previous record was held by Dika at 114kg which she did in September 2005. The 115kg also equals the Commonwealth Senior record held by Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Maryse Turcotte from Canada at 115Kg set in June 2001.
Dika in the snatch lift did 82kg and with her 115kg clean & jerk, it gave her a personal best performance of 197kg. This was Dika final official test tournament prior to Beijing.
Another great performance was set by 18 year old Sam Pera (junior) from the Cook Islands when he clean & jerked 200kg in the 105+kg category. This was a fantastic performance from this young Pacific lifter. He has now joined the magic 200kg club which only has a membership of two in the Pacific and that is Itte Detenamo from Nauru with 217kg and now Sam Pera.
