German sports journalist Hilmar Bürger turned 70
Famous weightlifting sports journalist Hilmar Bürger from Germany celebrated his 70th birthday in March. Bürger was Vice President of the AIPS Weightlifting Commission 1986-1994, a Member of the same 1994-2002 and a Honorary Member since 2002. A citizen of Berlin and a passionate statistician and historian of the sport, he founded and has maintained one of the most comprehensive and valuable International Weightlifting Databanks under the name of „IWA” and has serviced a whole series of Olympic Games, World and European Championships with athlete profiles and data for the media.
Hilmar became a Member of the Weightlifting Hall of Fame in 1995.
