Dr. Aján honoured for his contributions at WADA’s 10th Anniversary

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) celebrated the 10th Anniversary of its foundation on 1-2 December 2009 in Stockholm. At the Jubilee celebrations WADA Foundation Board Member Dr. Tamás Aján, IWF President, was among the few honoured for their valuable contributions to the activities of this organisation.

Dr. Aján: “We founded WADA in February 1999 in Lausanne and its successful activities in the past ten years proved that only by the inclusion of the various countries’ public authorities could the fight against doping achieve any success. WADA unites the sport family and the governments and can look back proudly on its achievements.”

The 10th Anniversary Jubilee dinner was held in Stockholm’s City Hall, the same venue where the Nobel Prize is awarded, and was attended by H.M. The King and H.M. The Queen of Sweden.

The Jubilee Celebrations were followed by the WADA Foundation Board meeting, where the IWF’s anti-doping activities received renewed and multiple praise and recognition.
