Successful IWF Continental Youth Olympic Qualification Event for Africa

The IWF Continental Youth Olympic Qualification Event for Africa has just finished in Cairo, Egypt. The Egyptian Weightlifting Federation with the leadership of President Dr. Mahmoud Shoukry together with the WFA (Weightlifting Federation of Africa) did a great job and organized an event at a high level. Mr. Khaled Mhalhel, WFA President was proud of the Championships and to have welcomed the high presence of several senior IWF officials, including IWF President Dr. Tamás Aján.
Wonderful audience, great lifters, many hardworking people characterized the Event. A significant number of 13 African countries took part with their junior and youth-aged lifters, the latter in the hope of clinching a precious slot for the Singapore Youth Olympic Games this summer.
The technical conditions were provided by the IWF TIS staff at World Championships standard.
The following National Federations/NOCs qualified for the Youth Olympic Games at the Event:
ALG (M), LBA (M), NGR (W), RSA (M), TUN (M+W). EGY already qualified at the Youth World Championships in Thailand 2009 with its men, this time also with its women. Congratulations to all involved!
