Test Event to guarantee great weightlifting competitions in Shenzhen

FISU CT Chair for Weightlifting Anikó Németh-Móra, IWF Technical Delegate Attila Ádámfi and IWF Technology Director Róbert Nagy have been to a mission in Shenzhen, China, on the occasion of a Test Event for the 26th Summer Universiade.As it is known, weightlifting will feature for the first time on the program of the Universiade to be held in August in China’s fastest developing city, Shenzhen.

The SU 2011 Organising Committee, alongside the Longgang District Government staged a 2-day Youth Weightlifting Invitational Tournament in the weightlifting venue just completed. The magnificent building which is to be found within the boundaries of the 2011 Universiade complex, belongs to the Shenzhen Sports School and can offer excellent conditions to the weightlifting events to take place from 13th to 18th August. The Test Event included the testing of the Competition Management System developed by China and seeking the IWF Technology Licence approval.

“All in all, we have been very satisfied with the Test Event and with some minor adjustments we can see the success of the SU weightlifting events guaranteed.” stated the IWF delegates visiting Shenzhen. “It now remains only up to our membership to include their competitors in as high numbers as possible in their countries’ Universiade delegations to make a breakthrough impression with weightlifting in Shenzhen,” they added.

National Weightlifting Federations are invited to urgently contact their respective National University Sports Organisation/Federation to send weightlifters to the SU 2011.
