IWF interviews IOC President Thomas Bach – Weightlifting embraces Olympic Agenda 2020

On 24 March, Thomas Bach, IOC President gave an exclusive interview to the crew of the IWF and Hungarian Television, as well as to World Weightlifting at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne.

Answering questions by Anikó Németh-Móra, IWF Director, the IOC President confirmed that weightlifting has made its contributions to the Olympic Movement and highlighted some of the immediate impacts of the Olympic Agenda 2020, among those the changes in the Olympic Games Bidding process or the increased manifestation of sustainability in the staging and the management of the Games.

In particular, weightlifting’s approval of an existing venue with temporary overlays for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics can be referred to as a good example. –

The President stressed that the 40 recommendations of the Olympic Agenda 2020 make up a complex unit where all organisations involved in sports have their relevance and must find their share of contributions to keep Olympism alive 365 days a year.
