2016 JWC Technical Visit projects a great event

The IWF’s delegation consisting of Director General Attila Ádámfi, Director of International Relations Anikó Németh-Móra and Competition Manager Mátyás Lencsér has paid a 2-day technical visit to Tbilisi, host of the 2016 Junior World Championships this June. Welcomed by the organisers, the Georgian Weightlifting Federation, with 3-times Olympic Champion Kakhi Kakhiashvili as its President, the group inspected and approved the venues, hotels and discussed the conditions and requirements of the upcoming event. Tbilisi is offering brand new sports halls for competition and training, adjacent and also brand new hotel for Technical Officials and teams, and a state-of-the-art hotel for meetings, congress, officials and teams.
During the visit the delegation was met by Georgian Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Tariel Khechikashvili who assured the IWF of the Georgian Goverment’s strong moral and financial support to the Championships and to the development of weightlifting in Georgia. Another visit to the Municipality of Tbilisi further confirmed that the Capital was dedicated to excel with what is going to be the first ever World championships in any sport held in the country.
