2017 IWF Youth World Championships Bangkok, THA overall

The Organising Committee of the 2017 IWF Youth World Championships Bangkok, THA did an outstanding work providing great conditions for all participants and athletes.

The competition site as well as facilities provided to the participants reached the highest standard du to the efficient work done under leadership of Boosaba Yodbangtoey, TAWA President.

Altogether 187 Women from 40 countries and 237 Men from 49 countries competed at this qualification competition foe the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games.

World Record were broken by two American lifters – one in the Men’s 69 bodyweight category and the other one in the Men’s 77kg:

CUMMINGS JR Clarence (USA) broke his own Youth World Record in the Clean and Jerk setting it to 185kg and equaled the 322kg Youth World Record in the Total.
MAURUS Harrison James (USA) 192kg and broke the Youth World Record in the Clean and Jerk setting it to 192kg.

The IWF Media Trophy of Best Lifter within Women was awarded to PALACIOS DAJOMES Angie Paola (ECU) while for Men the winner was CUMMINGS JR Clarence (USA).

According to the Team Classification, the first 6 best performing Men and Women Team stood up on stage during the Closing Ceremony to receive a special award.

Women Team Classification from 1st to 6th: CHN, THA, KAZ, USA, UZB and ROU.

Men Team Classification from 1st to 6th: CHN, IRI, KAZ, RUS, TUR, USA and THA.

The Team Classification is calculated from the Total results of the best six (6) athletes per NOC.
The seven (7) best-ranked teams at the IWF Youth World Championships obtained two (2) quota places per gender for their NOC.
The teams ranked from eight (8) to seventeen (17) at the IWF Youth World Championships obtained one (1) quota place per gender for their NOC.
