Make or break

MICHAEL Winn sits quietly on an incline bench in the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) Springfield gym as his weightlifting coach and brother-in-law, Craig Wegert, raves on about the youngster's raw talent and potential.

As Wegert speaks, the 16-year-old seems oblivious to everything he says, somewhat disinterested and almost asleep.

"He does that," Wegert said of Winn's semblance of boredom.

"We maintained our relationship via the Internet and phone calls," recalls Ohman. "We saw each other mainly at competitions and training camps."

They consummated their three-year romance by getting married last October  and then had to decide where to settle down. Mushyk suggested his home country, where as a top athlete he is entitled to an apartment, car, plot of land and a respectable salary.
