-  A year after the Olympics what are your thoughts on your  result and placing?

VS: Result in snatch (206kg)was satisfactory but clean and jerk (242kg) was a disappointment. Winning the bronze medal was OK but I had my sight for the gold medal.

- How did your life change after the Games?

VS: I work in the Latvian Parliament as an elected official in the Sports Department four days a week. After work I have time only for one training session. During the weekends I accomplish my heaviest trainings.

- What are the novelties in your daily routine?

VS: Working in the parliament is new to me. I am also active in giving motivational speeches in the city of Ventspils. We have a training center there by the sea.

- What do you consider the main focus in this year?

VS: I am training now for World Championships 2009 in South Korea but will take weightlifting year by year. If all goes well it is possible I will lift in London Olympics  2012 as well.

- What is your real leisure time activity?

VS: Fishing! My best memory is catching a 15-16kg salmon in Norway with my friend Stian Grimseth.
