Weightlifter Elizabeth Poblete’s Baby Died

Nine days after Chilean Olympic weightlifter Elizabeth Poblete gave birth to a baby while training in Brazil, not even realizing that she was six-months pregnant, the infant has died. The boy, named Eric Jose, weighed 2.5 pounds and died late last night at São Luiz hospital in Sao Paulo where Poblete was taken after giving birth at Esporte Clube Pinheiros. The premature infant was being kept alive on a respirator in the ICU. Without giving specifics about the cause of death, a hospital spokesperson said that the baby was also being fed intravenously and given antibiotics.
