Winners of the 2011 Lifter of the Year voting: Two Russians!
At World Weightlifting’s traditional election of the Best Lifter of the Year, the majority of voters – 525! – agreed that the “Jeno Boskovics Challenge Trophy” for Women in 2011 should go to Svetlana Tsarukaeva from Russia. Tsarukaeva collected altogether 4,087 points – winning with a colossal advantage.
Also Russian Khadzimurat Akkaev turned out to be the Best Male Lifter of 2011. He was voted into first position by 391 of his 643 voters, into second place by 143 and into third place by 109. He raised altogether 3,779 points.
The election on the IWF website broke all previous records: 805 valid ballots came from 63 countries. Thank you, Readers!
