State Decoration to Weightlifter Miss Shalinee Valaydon
The Mauritius Amateur Weightlifters’ & Powerlifters’ Association (MAWPLA) is extremely pleased to announce to the Weightlifting Community, that Weightlifter Miss Shalinee Valaydon has received a Decoration of Honor by the President of the Republic of Mauritius Hon. Mr. Kailash Purryag.
She has received the Member of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (MSK) distinction in relation to her contribution towards the promotion of Sports in Mauritius. Miss Valaydon became the first ever Weightlifter to have won a Gold medal at the African Weightlifting Championships last year. She is also among the very few Women Sportswomen to have excelled in the African Continent for our country. She is the very first Mauritian Weightlifter to have been decorated.
The MAWPLA is very grateful to the Mauritian Minister of Youth & Sports Hon. Devanand Ritoo for his invaluable support towards our sport and having recommended Miss Valaydon for this distinction.
