Iranian Gold in the men’s 96kg

The Olympic and World Champion MORADI Sohrab became World Champion again after last year’s victory in the men’s 96kg bodyweight category and set three World Records.

The 30-year-old Iranian, after lifting 181kg in the Snatch and missing the first attempt at 186kg, successfully broke the World Standard with his third attempt at the same weight.

In the Clean and Jerk, MORADI set the Clean and Jerk World Record at 230kg, while the Total Record at 416kg. He couldn’t go up to 237kg, neither could his challenger TIAN Tao (CHN) execute his attempt at 236kg.

Olympic Silver Medallist in 2016, TIAN got three Silver Medals with 181kg, 226kg, and 407kg in Total.

The three Bronze Medals went to lifters from three different Nations. In the Snatch, Belarus TSIKHANTSOU Yauheni came in third with 180kg setting four Junior World Records, ELBAKH Fares Ibrahim E.H. (QAT) got the Bronze in the Clean and Jerk with 217kg and Romanian  ONICA Nicolae in the Total with 391kg.
