Ángel Velmori Niño was re-elected as President of the Nicaraguan Weightlifting Federation

Ángel Velmori Niño, now 76 years old, dedicated 58 years of his life to weightlifting so far and this brilliant career continues after he was re-elected as President, in front of the Executive Board of the Nicaraguan Weightlifting Federation (FENILEP)  on 5th December 2018.

This will be Niño’s fourth consecutive period in charge of the Federation, who is aware of the work needs to be done, and has an enthusiastic, strong approach.

“I have more encouragement to do my job now. I’ve always told the members of the FENILEP assembly, ‘if you help us, we can do things better together. Long story short, a lot needs to be done” said Niño after the election.

Niño received the total of 18 possible votes from the EB members.

Fundamental changes were established on this occasion, such as merging the Treasurer and Secretary positions, now placed in the hands of Cecilio Espinoza.

Jazmina Díaz took over the Vice President position and Miguel Niño Leiva became First Vice President.

FENILEP has 19 member associations, of which 18 were present at the elections.

The FENILEP held its last event of the year at 8 December, a Youth Championships, where the new IWF bodyweight categories were introduced.
