Chinese Taipei defended its title in women’s 59kg

KUO Hsing-Chun (TPE) defended her World Champion title this Saturday on the World Championships in Pattaya.

The Asian Champion, who won at the Worlds two times in a row, was defeated in the Snatch by her North-Korean rival, Rio Olympics Silver Medallist CHOE Hyo Sim, who broke KUO’s World Record in this lift and set a new one at 107kg.

In the Clean and Jerk, KUO proved that she was the one who dominated the field: although CHOE broke her two World Records, with 138kg in this lift and 245 in Total, KUO immediately took back both Records and settled them at 140kg and 246kg, clinging both Gold Medals.

All three Bronze Medals went to Chinese CHEN Guiming, who claimed Gold in the Clean and Jerk and Silver in the Total last year.
