TOUGH TIMES
She took an 11-year break from international competitions due to the Greek financial crisis and has worked as a waitress and a salesperson in order to fund her weightlifting. She returned to international competition at the 2018 Mediterranean Games in Tarragona, Spain, competing in the 69kg weight category. "It is difficult when you compete in a championship and you do not have the same facilities as athletes [from abroad] at the same level. It is hard for me to work for eight hours and then rush to my training. It is even harder for me because I have two jobs at age 33. It is hard to fight for your dream yourself. Greek weightlifting has never gone out of my mind. It was simply because of the changing economic conditions of the country, we went through a crisis." (weightlifting.gr, 12 Apr 2019; welovesports.gr, 29 Jun 2018)

SANCTION
In 2008 she tested positive for the banned substances methyltrienolone and buprenorphine. She received a two-year suspension from March 2008 to March 2010. (iwf.net, 13 Mar 2018)
