Malta Weightlifting Association initiative to promote weightlifting

Throughout the European School Sports Day organised on 30th September 2016, the Malta Weightlifting Association took the initiative to promote the sports of weightlifting. The event was held in the family Park in Marsaskala where a considerable number of children between 9 and 10 years old from the local primary school participated. The event was a huge success as the children were physically active in many other different types of sports. The aim was to promote health and well-being for lifelong learning and to develop social competences among students through fun and meaningful experience. Souce: Jesmond Caruana, MWA

Louise Martin CBE, Commonwealth Games Federation President said: "This is a significant step towards the realisation of the Commonwealth Games Federation’s vision for gender equality. Today’s announcement strengthens our long-standing relationship with IWF’s leadership as we work in close partnership to move the dial for gender equality within sport." Dr. Tamas Ajan, IWF Presdient said: "The IWF always had an innovative leadership embracing gender equality.
